Hi there and welcome to my site. I'm Chris Garrett and I'm pretty well a self-taught shaper that started making boards for myself and a few friends in 1979. Phantom Surfboards was born in Bolton Street, Kirra around 1980/81 and it's been my full time career since 1984 but most of all, my passion and dream. With a desire to craft custom boards for individuals, I've kept myself and a lot of people stoked and happy over the years. Being a super keen surfer fuels the fire in my belly and drives a hunger for design...the possibilities are endless and the mind is fertile. I've never really been focussed on the pro circuit, as I'm more interested in the normal person who wants to better their surfing, that said, I still managed to attracted some top pros over the years and they have had some fantastic results with my boards ... both Nick Wallace and Dave 'Rasta' Rastovich won junior world titles while riding my boards, Neridah Falconer won the Hawaian Triple Crown one year. In the past I have worked with the likes of Kieren Perrow, Andrew Murphy, Andy Irons, Dean Morrison, Parko, Jamie Mitchell, Serena Brook, Paige Hareb, Amee Donahue, Mick Campbell, Raditya Rondi, Lee Wilson, plus a few more that I forget and helped them fine tune their equipment and to better their game. Currently I'm very excited to be working with a young grom, Josh Grange, his brother Locky and my perpetual team rider and all round waterman, James Billy Watson.
