Jake and the Bullet

A while ago, Jake from the Sydney band, The Ruminaters, threw down his hard earned rock'n'roll dollars into a custom Bullet for his surfing pleasure. Custom hand-painted to match the Ford green of his touring truck in the states.

the dims on Jake's board.....510" x 19" x 23/8'' and 28.4 liters...he has a stage performing  weight of 73kgs

A new Slipper for Brad

Hi out there in Cyberland, been a while but coming up to Chrissy ...what would you expect!...A few weeks ago Brad swung on by to collect an early Chrissy present to himself, a sweet little ride called the slipper.

Brad weighs in at 70kgs and is about 5'8'' and the board dimensions on this beauty are 5'8'' x 193/4'' x 21/2'' and is 31.3 litres. This board features a cut lap custom resin tint and deliberate fibreglass patterning in the deck layers for an added effect. Of course she's a super shiny polish as well to make her look for delicious and durable. Brad rang me after a few surfs on her and was pretty bloody stoked!  Sad to let a nice board like this out the door but stoked to see her go to a well loved home.

Nick and his Friendly Fish

Hello out there in cyber world!...this is a new custom Friendly Fish for Nick who likes surfing smaller boards in all kinds of waves.

He was chasing something with a bit of volume but didn't want to compromise the performance and when he saw the Friendly Fish....well he was hooked.

The Friendly Fish has a flat deck but the rails are still low and foiled and typical of high performance boards. This gives Nick the advantage of being able to bust out the moves while maintaining the luxury qualities of a fish.... the Fouruster fin configuration for optimum functionality.

I custom hand-painted this board for Nick ....something  green and blue and up to you is what he said...This board features a poly propylene tail pad on the deck for added strength and the blue stripe on the bottom is actually high tenacity poly ethylene...we just call it blue nylon.

Nick is about 6' 1'' tall and weighs 92 kgs.

This board is  5'9" x 201/2" x 25/8" and is 35.5 litres.

Ollie.... Futura rounded pin

Hi again, this is Ollie...just stoked to be grabbing his first custom board...the Futura model and as a rounded pintail.

It has a flatter deck with loads of hidden volume but still with the performance foiled rails for manoeuvrability and control through the turns. Relaxed nose rocker and single to triple concave to flat out the tail. This one has been set-up as a five plugger to give Ollie all the options. Custom hand-paint by me.

The stats on this one...6'1'' x 191/2" x 21/2" and is 33.7 litres.....Ollie weighs 85-92 kgs....depending on the beer :-)

Futura, 5 fin and rounded pin

Hi Again, this is my friend Erwin picking up his custom Futura.....

The futura is a great model with the extra meat in the deck for the paddling and wave catching ability. We did a bit of customising to this one for Erwin as he was chasing a bit of thickness and width under the back foot. Usually this model is a square-tail however he had been riding a Tug-deluxe rounded pin before that he was loving so it just had to be a rounded pin also. The five fins cover all the bases and this is in the standard Quad fin/thruster configuration.

I custom hand-painted this one for him ...the brief on the design was something blue and white on the nose...the rest was left up to me.

Erwin weighs about 76kgs and is quite heavy on his back foot so I opted for the polly-prop patch for longevity and lightness.

This board is 6' x 19" x 23/8" and is 29.6 litres

Rocket Twin fish

This would have to be my favourite shape that I keep revisiting year after year......

While working with Dave Rasta Rastovich back in the early 2000's, he showed up at the factory in Burliegh one day with a board that was a copy of a Spyder Murphy/Martin Potter twin fin from the early 80's, shaped recently by Derrick Hynd. Wanting a replica of it, I kinda modified it where I felt necessary and ended up with a cracker of a board. Interestingly this shape is so good, that anyone who shapes for Dave for a period of time does a version of this board... and understandably so...it's a great design and full credit goes to Spyder for the initial inspiration.

Over the years I have tweaked, refined and gone out wide with the design.... ridden it with as many fin combinations as you would care to imagine and I am yet to be disappointed.....it's just a great design that seems to tick all the boxes for the way I want to surf.  Plenty of spark off the mark, drive down the line and the flyer still allows you to be tight in the pocket.

This one is my own personal board and is yet to be ridden.... I'm sure it will exceed my expectations.  I always remember an old quote from a surfing mag back in the day....double your pleasure, double your fun, ride with two fins instead of one...I know that this board has a small stabiliser but essentially it's a twin fin.

FUN 'O' MATIC for automatic fun

Just thought I'd blog this nice resin tinted Fun'O'matic that I made for general good guy, Zac. This one has the nice things that I like to put into my boards and as always, it's the small personal details that make the difference, timber fins, triple resin laminate and glass resin loop.
